In general Jordan has hot, dry summers and warm, wet winters. There are differences between the mountains and the desert; it rains in the mountains but is dry in the desert.

People read and write Arabic from right to left which is opposite to how we write English English is widely understood among upper and middle classes. Food
The national dish of Jordan is "Mansaf". It is made of lamb yogurt and served rice. It has a special white sauce called Jameed that it is made of salted dried goat milk. People eat it using their bare hands. Jordanians like drinking coffee. It is poured a few drops at a time. When a guest's cup is empty it is filled up again straight away. When the guest has drunk enough he tips the empty cup from side to side. Politics
