Merlin in Bam

Collapsed building in Bam

Merlin arrived in Bam, Iran, on 30th Dec 2003, 72 hours after the earthquake. Straight away the Merlin team mobilized two truck loads of medical and non food items such as water from Baghdad and Iraq to help the injured. With so many agencies present Merlin focused on how it could assist the Ministry of Health (known as the Ministry of Health and Education MoHE). The infrastructure of MoHE had collapsed as result of the earthquake. Included with this collapse was a shortage of medical supplies, water containers, soap and blankets. The decision was made to distribute the bulk of Merlin's Medical supplies to Clinics in the city and Health houses in the rural areas.

  • Equipping a public health network laboratory
