Pauline Sanderson – Cyclist and Climber

Pauline, 41, didn't find the outdoors until she went to university and joined the TA (Toy Army) and realised how great it was to be hot, sweaty, dirty and exhausted. Since then she has never really looked back.
She spent 6 years in London but decided after a year out travelling through Africa and Asia that the outdoors needed to play a bigger role in her life. She left London and re-trained as an outdoor instructor. This led her to Nepal where she fell in love with the Himalayas and spent the next four years as a partner in Equator Expeditions organising trips on the rivers and mountains. During her time there she climbed Mera Peak, Island Peak Ama Dablam (3rd British woman) and kayaked most of the established and a few of the less established rivers in India, Bhutan and Thailand.
Love and marriage brought her back to the Lake District and now Scotland where she and her husband work at Glenmore Lodge. Having such a fab family and husband to support her and come back to, she knows she is on this expedition to enjoy the journey and come home safe.
