Rowena Wright – Expedition Support
Rowena, 35, is a marine artist living in Cowes on the Isle of Wight. She paints mainly classic yachts and portraits and is a member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists. She will be the official artist on the expedition, sketching and taking photos, then producing masterpieces (obviously) back home. For more examples of her work click on the paintings below.
As well as filling sketchbooks she will also be a member of the support staff, helping the team to get from start to finish in one piece. She has taken part in many Operation Raleigh bike rides covering thousands of miles around Britain and Europe, so has plenty of experience supporting cyclists. However, this expedition is a challenge Rowena is particularly looking forward to, as she has never been to any of the countries the team are travelling through!
Rowena's work means she spends as much time as possible out on the Solent. She was a crew member of Cowes Inshore Lifeboat for five years and thoroughly enjoyed heading out into a storm. She loves skiing, snowboarding, sailing, windsurfing, cycling, white-water rafting, travelling, mountains, snow, and Springer Spaniels.
She is very sad her Spaniel can't come along too!
